I have a few principles in mind for the Economicate forum which I would like to lay out here.

Anyone, anywhere should be allowed to access and participate. Economicate aims to encourage participation of members from all over the world and of all different backgrounds - therefore it has no segregated "regions" forums, for example.

This should encourage an adoption of international perspectives by all members: after all, they constantly communicate with people from all over the world, who can contribute to discussions with case studies from their own corners of the world.
Economicate aims to encourage discussion between Economists of all alignments. A big disadvantage of most blogs and websites is that most end up attracting only one cross-section of Economists from the same mindset. For example, austrianforum.com may be an excellent forum, but it will inevitably attract more people who are aligned to the Austrian school than anyone else.

Economicate is neutral and open to all ideas and alignments, and encourages constructive discussion and debate between all economists in all fields.
Teaching and learning should be unrestricted. If someone wants to learn, they should be able to ask at any time. Therefore Economicate has no segregated "learning" or "student" forums.
