Economicate uses an adapted form of the Journal of Economic Literature (JEL) subject classifications to organise and divide the many and varied topics covered by Economics.

Unfortunately, given the breadth of the discipline, it can at first be a bit daunting to find your way around the forums.

If you do not know where to post or find a topic

  • First, use your internet browser's "search" or "find" function to look for relevant keywords on the big Contemporary Economics board. (If you don't know how to do this, you need to navigate your browser's menus; it's often under a menu called "Edit".)

For example, if I wanted to make a post about population demographics, I might search for the keyword "demographic": and lo and behold, my browser jumps to board "Labor and demographic economics (J)".

  • Failing this, you may ask in this thread - but please check in the above way first to save moderators' time. It may be that a suitable board does not yet exist, in which case we will create one.
